my process
Escape is a magazine concept that I created focused on travel. I created all aspects of this magazine except for the copy, including the illustrations and photography.

I admire the illustrative cover designs of The New Yorker, so I took inspiration from that for the simple design. I designed the cover using Adobe Illustrator and modeled it after an airplane window, rather than a specific location. I felt like this was best because the article itself mentions many locations, so I didn't want to limit the cover by choosing one exclusively.

In order to highlight the photos I have taken this year while studying abroad, I decided to create a scrapbook theme for the layout using Adobe InDesign.

Above shows the layout and pages of the article, focused on 6 locations to travel to next year. It was important to me that the article still felt personal and warm, even though I didn't write the copy. Because of this, I used Adobe Illustrator to create spot illustrations that resembled travel themed stickers in the color scheme. This gave the article a personal touch that also helped better convey the theme.
